The Japanese government's Ministry of the Environment made a car from cellulose which is a material found in wood. The NCV was made with zero-emission in mind by the experts in the ministry. They aim to make a car that is can produce less emission and faster to run at the same time. By making the vehicle's body lighter, the fuel efficiency improves and the GHG emission decreases. The vehicle's body is made from cellulose nanofibers (CNF) from plants. Hiroyuki Yano, the NCV Project leader, told that CNFs are strong and lightweight nanofibers derived from plants.
