Also known as the Datsun 1600 in the U.S. and Canada, the car was released in 1967 and sales continued until 1973.
AutoWeek's G.D. Levy said that the Datsun 510 was actually the "poor man's BMW." And true enough, the 510's engineering was actually inspired by the 1966 BMW 1600-2, with a SOHC engine and a MacPherson strut suspension. The European-inspired design was the work of Datsun's very own, Teruo Uchino.
It is part of the Datsun Bluebird series.
The car in the video is a modified 1972 Datsun 510, owned by Raul Toledo. He saw the car on Craigslist and really pushed to buy the car.
