Two new fuel cell buses were introduced to the world last March 2017. Fuel cell buses used hydrogen fuel cell as its power source, with the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions. The buses run from Tokyo Station to the Tokyo Bus Sight and vice versa. This is a part of the movement to become a ‘Hydrogen Society’ by 2020, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government aiming to introduce more than 100 fuel cell buses. The metropolitan government stated its plan to leave a hydrogen society as its legacy, just as the 1964 Tokyo Olympic left the Shinkansen high-speed train system as its own.
