Shounen Jump is one of Japan's best-selling and longest-running manga anthology magazines. Shounen Jump witnessed the birth of a lot of the famous titles currently going rounds in the world of manga and anime. Some of the titles first housed in Shounen Jump, but not limited to, are One Piece, Hunter x Huter, Mazinger Z, Dragonball, Slam Dunk, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach and Naruto.
August 1, 1968 was the date when the first published magazine came out, giving professional breaks to manga artists for more than four decades now. The magazine targets young male readers, thus most of the manga which originated here consisted of a lot of fight scenes, with a little bit of humor. Successful mangas published in the magazines are later on published in volumes, to be sold to the fans. Phenomenal works are made into anime series, and more outstanding works also get live-action movies, novel adaptations and other franchises.
