"The human whose name is written in this notebook shall die."
It seems like Kira will be dominating the United States of America this August 25. Netflix, the American company who brought us high quality and legal video streaming services, will be launching a live action adaptation movie of the phenomenal manga-turned-anime, Death Note.
Basing from the trailer, the movie is glossily done, as what is expected in an American or Hollywood production. Light's character is trying to stay faithful to the original manga by Tsugumi Oba. The character of L, though portrayed by a black American and has been seen in the trailer to be talking and showing himself in public, seemed to be also trying to mimic the original.
Will the concept of the shinigami or the Death God work in a Western setting? Will this movie give justice to the worldwide manga hit? Let's all find out on August 25.
