Kayabukiya Tavern, an Izakaya or traditional sake-house restaurant in Utsunomiya, Japan, employs Macaques as waiters. The restaurant owner Kaoru Otsuka owns the two macaque monkeys named - Yat-chan (twelve-year-old) and Fuku-chan (four years old). Yat-chan is dressed in shorts and shirts. He takes orders and delivers them to his customers. He serves towels and carries bottles of drinks to the customers. One customer named Shoichi Yano tells "These guys are really adorable, they are like my kids".
Another customer Miho Takikawa tells her impression, "We called out for more beer just then and it brought us some beer. It's amazing how it seems to understand human words.
For tips, the customers give the macaque some soya beans. Due to Japanese animal rights regulations, the environment has been inspected to make sure that the workplace is ideal for the monkey. Also, they are only allowed to work for two hours daily. Soon after, the Otsuka will employ more macaques as waiters. For your info, Utsunomiya is located in Tochigi Prefecture that is 2 hours north of Tokyo.
