Japanese animation has established a certain style through the years. However, though there can be considered a "Japanese" style or "Japanese' rule book of animation, Masaaki Yuasa proved that a wild and free style can make a mark in the industry.

One of his greatest works was the animation of the Ghibli film, My Neighbours the Yamadas, released in 1999. 

He was also lucky enough to the be able to direct, write and do the storyboard of Adventure Time's episode in Season 6, entitled, "Food Chain."

His most recent notable work is being the director of Devilman Crybaby.
