Macross Frontier or Makurosu Furontia is a science fiction anime and TV series aired from April 3, 2008, until September 25, 2008. It was authored by Shoji Kawamori. The story details the battle between humans and the extraterrestrials called Zentradi. Facing a probable defeat from the hands of the advance enemy, the humans started their voyage to the farthest regions of the outer space. On the year 2059, the immigration fleet, while heading to the centre of the galaxy, encountered an alien race called "Vajra".

The anime has three main characters: Ranka Lee, a young girl with post-traumatic stress disorder, Sheryl Nome, a pop idol, and Alto Saotome - an ex-kabuki performer turned pilot, who trained with Pilot training course from the Mihoshi Academy.
