Kyoto Animation Co., Ltd. or Kabushiki-gaisha Kyōto Animēshon is a Japanese anime studio known for adapting original novels and manga into anime. Founded by the couple Hideaki and Yoko Hatta in 1981, the studio prides itself for not compromising animation quality. Also referred to as KyoAni, the studio has been the lead production house for more than 21 anime series and films. It was involved in the production of beloved anime series such as Inuyasha, Kiddy Grade, and Tenchi Universe. Their popular works include TV series, films, OVAs and ONAs of Full Metal Panic!, Clannad, K-On!, Free!, Sound!, and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.
