Kihachiro Kawamoto is a Japanese designer and maker of puppets, an independent film director, screenwriter and animator of independently-made stop-motion films, and president of the Japan Animation Association since 1989 until his death in August 2010.
He is remarkably known for his puppet designs on the long-running TV adaptation series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. His other works are The Book of the Dead, Winter Days, The Restaurant of Many Orders, Briar-Rose or the Sleeping Beauty, Animated Self-Portraits, To Shoot without Shooting, Self Portrait, House of Flames, Dojoji Temple, A Poet's Life, The Trip, The Demon, Anthropo-Cynical Farce, and Breaking of Branches is Forbidden.
