Hiroyuki Imaishi is one of the people who worked hard to make Shinji Ikari move.

He started out as a key animator for the animation company Gainax. In 1995, he became involved with one of the phenomenal anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion. 

His directorial debut came in 2004 with the animated film, Dead Leaves. His first animated series was released in 2007, which was entitled Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Other titles under his directorial belt are Re: Cutie Honey, Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Kill la Kill, Space Patrol Luluco and Promare.
