The opening cinematic video for Dragon Ball FighterZ has just been released by Bandai Namco Entertainment, on December 23, 2017, giving a brief glimpse on the gameplay and characters appearing in the game.

The game's story mode follows the invasion of the mysterious Clone Army with the main heroes losing their powers. At the same time, the player links to Goku, through their minds. Goku and the player must join forces to unveil the mystery shrouding the link and the Clone Army. 

Playable characters include Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Frieza, Cell, Krillin, Piccolo, Android 18 (with Android 17), Android 16, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan (with Chiaotzu), Majin Buu, Gohan, Cell, Nappa, Ginyu, Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, Gotenks, Kid Buu, Adult Gohan, and Hit. The game also addd an original playable character designed by Akira Toriyama, Android 21, who is described as a scientist possessing intelligence rivaling Dr. Gero.

The game launched for PS4 and Xbox One in Japan, on February 2, 2018.
