Clamp is a four-member manga artist group composed of four women: Nanase Ohkawa who is in charge of the storyline, scripting and direction; Mokona who is responsible for the art; Tsubaki Nekoi who is the character artist; and Satsuki Igarashi, the layout designer.
Clamp started as a twelve-member dojinshi (or self-published) circle in the mid-1980s called Clam Cluster. The group professionally debuted in 1989 with the manga RG Veda. The members slowly dissipated throughout the years leaving the four who are now called the Queens of Shojo Manga. They have created a number of titles which have received critical acclaim. Some of the most notable would be Cardcaptor Sakura, X, and Chobits Omnibus. The overarching theme of their works is that love conquers all. Love transcends who you are and what you've done. Their most recent work is Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card which is set to be an anime in 2018. Photo by John (Phoenix) Brown. Licensed under Creative Commons.
