Yes, the Harrison Ford sci-fi blockbuster, which is not Star Wars, is having a sequel to be released on October 6. The film is said to be set 30 years after the story of the original Blade Runner, released in 1982. This leaves fans a stunning anticipation of what could have happened within the three decades. However, that anticipation will soon end with the release of an anime short story set in the year 2019, the setting of the original Blade Runner.

The anime short will be directed by the world-renowned creator of Cowboy Bebop, Shinichiro Watanabe. The character designs will be made by Shuko Murase, the one who did Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. The short is targeted to be out before the launch of the Blade Runner 2049.
