The place is popularly known as the "Monkey Island" but in reality there are no monkeys residing in the island. Why is it called Monkey Island? It is because there is a legend about a priest who followed a white monkey, leading him to the island's beaches.
Sarushima Island is the only natural island that still remains in Tokyo Bay.
According to the website, ANA, Inspiration of Japan, Sarushima is an island of history. It was once a place that protects the Tokyo Bay when it had been closed to civilians.
