Rikugi-en is considered as one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens. Located in the quiet northern Tokyo, this place is one of the best escapes, giving you a break from the noisy metro. The garden has 88 spots named after some famous places in Japan and China, as well as the famous events in the Chinese history. Some of the spots are also inspired by Japanese poetic form (or waka). Its name "Rikugi-en" literally means "six poems garden." It is chosen as one of the best spot to see autumn colors in Tokyo, as reported by CNN.
It will take an hour to cover the whole park. Some of the picturesque spots include Togetsukyo Bridge, and the famous Tsutsuji no Chaya teahouse.
From Tokyo Station, head to Komagome Station via JR Yamanote Line.
The garden is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (extends to 9 p.m. during night illuminations) except on December 29 to January 1.
Admission fee costs 300 Yen.
