Dolls, in Japanese, are called ningyo, which translate to human shape. Japanese dolls usually represent any of the following: children, heroes, fairy-tale characters, and gods. It is almost common knowledge that creating unique art is a Japanese thing, and dolls or ningyo are no exception. Here are some of the most popular of Japanese dolls: Hakata Doll, Kokeshi Doll, Daruma Doll, and Hina Ningyo.
The creation of these artworks vary. There’s still no scarcity of traditional handmade dolls; tons of doll-makers still undergo the grit and grind of the process, but in the past decade or so, manufacturers have started to utilize machines or tools.
